November 2009 - Sweatshirt Jackets by Jo Kono 
Jo mentioned several web sites at the meeting. Jo's inspiration was Londa Rohlfing who carries many supplies and patterns and lots of inspiration. Londa's web site is www.londas-sewing.com
Jo recommends 80% cotton/20% polyester sweatshirts that have good weight and drape for the jacket conversions. She also shared the hint to use upholstery weights to make the jackets "hang" well. Other web sites she shared are:

Beth Wehrman also shared her daughter Briana Haley's blog site. Bree (a longtime member of our guild) quit her corporate job, sold her belongings and is following her dream of a sewing-related career. She is currently in the Fashion Institute of Technologies accelerated Fashion Design program. Follow her progress in New York City (when she has the time to write!)

September 2009 - Happy Birthday to Central Iowa ASG
Sue Bogue reported on the Stitch This! competition at the Iowa State Fair where 13 teams of four youth each were given a bridal gown to refashion in two days for a runway show. Several guild members were "mentors" for the youth. See the picks at Stitch This! contest at Iowa State Fair
