We learned about sewing and wearing Mexican rodeo dresses with Alejandra Piña. She celebrates her culture and family traditions through Mexican rodeo dresses. Alejandra founded of Escaramuza Quetzalli, a team of Des Moines metro women who compete in escaramuza charra, the only women's event in charrería, the national sport of Mexico that is similar to a rodeo.

February 2026, Wedding Dresses Around the World

Not surprisingly, not everyone around the world favors long white wedding dresses. Every culture has styles and traditions around weddings. Dani Rothman, Central IA ASG member, will presented wedding dresses from around the world.

January 2026, Textile Intensive Tour
|
Diane McCauley took us along on her Textile Intensive Tour to England at the January Chapter meeting. Ten days of education and fun in Windsor, the Cotswolds and London. Highlights? Hands-on fabric design & embroidery classes, viewing historic textiles and garments, fabric shopping...along with castles (three of them!), country manors, British gardens, and gorgeous landscapes!
